Statistics
The prevalence of elderly abuse has been reported between 2.2% and 90.4% in various parts of the world. Here in the United States, the statistics are staggering.

of elders in the U.S. age 60+ have experienced physical, psychological or other forms of abuse.
5 million
elders experience physical or psychological abuse, financial exploitation or neglect in the U.S. each year.
1 in 24
cases of abuse are reported to authorities each year, with emotional abuse being the most commonly reported.
"The Story of Ruth"

This first-person narrative explores the life of an African American woman who grew up in the deep south during the Jim Crow Era. She lived as a devoted wife and mother before her life was tragically cut short as a result of elder abuse.
